The argument then became physical, witnesses said. During the interaction, multiple individuals attacked the man, according to reports. He was seriously injured and fell to the ground. Residents transported him to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The deceased was in his late 20s and lived in the same area where the confrontation erupted, the authorities said.
Violence and Vehicles Burnt
News of the death spread quickly through the neighborhood, stoking anger among residents and relatives of the victim. A section of the protesters converged in the area late on Friday night and called for stringent action against the accused.
Several parked cars were reported damaged in the unrest, with some even set on fire. Police teams reached right away to ensure the situation is under control and further violence is averted, earlier officials had said.
Authorities said additional security personnel had been stationed in the area to maintain law and order.
Community Issues 24-Hour Ultimatum
