The CBSE Class 12 Result 2026 has been announced by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on May 13, providing much-needed relief to over 17 lakh students across India. After several days of waiting for students, parents, and schools, the CBSE Class 12 Result 2026 was finally declared in online mode. The board has released the final results with an overall pass percentage of 85.20 percent this year, in addition to data from September, which was 88.39 percent (the last year).
The Class 12 examinations were organized by the board itself. Science, Commerce, and Arts students appeared for these exams under the All India Senior School Certificate Examination (AISSCE). They can now check their digital scorecards using their admit card ID, school number, date of birth, and roll number.

Girls Perform Better Than Boys Again
Once again, girls outshone their male counterparts in the CBSE Class 12 Result 2026. Girls secured a pass percentage of 88.86 while boys registered it at 82.13, according to official statistics. This year, transgender pupils did equally brilliantly with a 100 % pass rate.
Consistent academic preparation and attendance patterns are thought to have helped female students achieve the strong results. These similar trends have been seen in all the past CBSE board examinations, too.
More Than 94,000 Students Score Above 90%
Meanwhile, the best of individual performances in the CBSE Class 12 Result 2026 was also good. As many as 94,000 students had obtained above 90% marks, and more than 17,000 candidates secured above 95%, the reports said.
But the CBSE has retained its policy of not issuing an official toppers list. According to the board, this step has been taken to decrease undue competition among students and enhance their mental health.
Why Did the Pass Percentage Drop in 2026?
Declining pass percentage is one of the trending topics around the CBSE Class 12 Result 2026. This change has been attributed to a new approach to marking digitally, known as on-screen marking (OSM), which is still being introduced by board officials and education experts.
As part of the new process, around 70,000 evaluators assessed around 98 lakh answer sheets digitally. CBSE claims that the move helped in lessening manual errors and transparency in assessment. The digital evaluation system prevented the examiners from deviating from the marking scheme, leading to stricter and more objective marking.
Analysts in education think the updated form may have walled off some candidates, thus sending a negligible number this year than in past sessions.

Digital marksheets hosted on DigiLocker are accepted as valid documents for admissions, verification purposes, etc., by many institutions until schools arrive at original physical copies of these documents.

Reports from several sources claim Trivandrum and Chennai again performed well in the CBSE Class 12 Result 2026. Southern regions have always scored better in pass percentage charts, indicating valuable performance in board examinations.

Supplementary Exams and Rechecking Process
According to CBSE, students who are unhappy with their obtained marks in the CBSE Class 12 Result 2026 can apply for verification of marks, photocopies of answer sheets, and also opt for re-evaluation. Eligible students will also have an opportunity to appear for the supplementary exams in July 2026, according to CBSE.
The process reference for online submission of candidates for supplementary exams will begin on June 2, 2026. The board has announced. Students and schools are informed to carry out the process within the given limitations.
